The office of the Seniors’ Advocate is independent of any departments of the New Brunswick government.

We strive to ensure that the rights of adults over the age of 65 and vulnerable adults are respected regarding services offered by different departments and agencies of the Government.


A summary of our mandate follows: feel free to see the mandate in full, as found in the Act.

  • Ensuring the rights and interests of older adults (aged 65 and over) and vulnerable adults (over the age of 19) are protected;

  • Ensuring the views of older and/or vulnerable adults are heard and considered where those views might not otherwise be advanced;

  • Ensuring older and/or vulnerable adults have access to approved services and that the complaints about these services receive appropriate attention

  • Providing information and advice to government, government agencies, and communities about the availability, effectiveness, responsiveness, and relevance of services to older and/or vulnerable adults and

  • Acting as an advocate for the rights and interests of older and/or vulnerable adults in general
